Tomorrow is the Feast of one of my favourite saints, St John of the Cross. The Collect for the Mass is adapted from divinumofficium.


Orémus.
Deus, qui sanctum Ioánnem Confessórem tuum atque Doctorem perféctæ sui abnegatiónis et Crucis amatórem exímium effecísti: concéde; ut, eius imitatióni iúgiter inhæréntes, glóriam assequámur ætérnam.
Per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum, Filium tuum: qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitate Spiritus Sancti Deus, per omnia saecula saeculorum.

O God, Who made blessed John, Your Confessor and Teacher, an extraordinary lover of perfect self-denial and the Cross, grant that, by continually striving to imitate him, we may reach everlasting glory.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.
