Two Apostolic Letters issued today

Two Apostolic Letters, given the force of Motu Proprio have been issued today by the Vatican. The first, Fides Per Doctrinam alters the Apostolic Constitution Pastor Bonus in order to transfer the competency on Catechesis from the Congregation for the Clergy to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation. The second, Ministrorum Institutio, relieves the Congregation for Catholic Education of one of its most significant competencies, that of caring for Seminaries - that is transferred to the Congregation for the Clergy.

Latest update from Fisher House, University Chaplaincy, Cambridge

Regular Mass schedule: Low Mass every Sunday (during term), 8am, Fisher House Catholic  Chaplaincy  Special Masses (Michaelmas Term 2014): 1) Sunday 2nd November 2014, 8am, Missa Cantata for External Solemnity of All Saints Fisher House Catholic Chaplaincy 2) Monday 17th November 2014, 6:30pm, High Mass of Requiem for Monsignor  Alfred Newman Gilbey (Fisher House Chaplain, 1932-65), Fisher House  Catholic Chaplaincy, followed by a drinks reception.

First Friday Masses commencing Friday Oct 3rd at 6pm at St. John Baptist Cathedral Norwich. Mass preceded by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. Many thanks to our new bishop, Alan Hopes, for his great generosity.

November 1, 2014. Pontifical High Mass at St John the Baptist Cathedral Norwich at 12-noon. This Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop of East Anglia, Alan Hopes. Please support this Mass which will be a wonderful event.

There will be a Missa Cantata on Saturday 11 October, 2014 at 11 am at St Benedict Minster, Beccles.

Friday 6 June at 6 pm. Missa Cantata. A Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart, at All Souls Church, Peterborough.

Sunday 8 June. Missa Cantata for Pentecost, 9.15 am at Blackfriars, Cambridge.

Easter Sunday, 9.15 am, at Blackfriars, Buckingham Road, Cambridge. There will be a Missa Cantata, celebrated by Fr. Aidan Nichols, according to the Dominican Rite.

Fisher House's annual Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of its distinguished chaplain, Mgr Alfred Gilbey, will take place on Tuesday 25th February at 6 pm (rehearsal at 5.15 pm).

Christmas Day. There will be a Missa Cantata according to the Dominican Rite at Blackfriars, Buckingham Road, Cambridge at 9.15 am. Mass will be celebrated by Fr Aidan Nichols. We hope to see you there!!

On a purely temporary basis the fortnightly Masses at Woodbridge have been suspended. We will inform you when they will re-commence.

Mgr Mark Langham, the new University Chaplain, celebrates Mass according to the Usus Antiquior, at 8 am on Sundays in the Chapel of Fisher House, Cambridge. Take note however that these Masses are only celebrated during term time.

Monday July 8th - Fr Henry Whisenant will celebrate Mass in the Usus Antiquior at St Mary's Church, Thetford, Norfolk. This will be a High Mass with Dr Michael Collis and Fr Withers.

Please note also that the Lawshall Masses, celebrated on the first Sunday of the month are suspended for the moment due to the ill health of Fr Gerry Quigly. We pray for him.

Note also that the 1st Friday Masses in Peterborough will now be at 6 pm.

Prayer for England

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother look down in mercy upon England, thy dowry, and upon us who greatly hope and trust in thee.

By thee it was that Jesus, our Saviour and our hope was given unto the world; and He has given thee to us that we might hope still more.

Plead for us thy children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the cross, O Sorrowful Mother, Intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold, they may be united to the Chief Shepherd, the Vicar of thy Son.

Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith, fruitful in good works we may all deserve to see and praise God, together with thee in our heavenly home.
